Certifications & Standards
IICRC Certification (Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification)
Every crew dispatched through WaterDamageA is required to hold current IICRC certifications appropriate to the loss type. The IICRC is the cleaning and restoration industry's primary certification body, and its standards are recognized by insurance carriers across the U.S.
S500 — Water Damage Restoration
ANSI/IICRC S500 is the standard reference guide for water damage restoration professionals. Every crew is certified to S500. Key concepts our crews are trained in: water classification (Class 1–4 by extent), water categorization (Cat 1 clean / Cat 2 gray / Cat 3 black), structural drying principles, moisture documentation, and dry standards.
S520 — Mold Remediation
ANSI/IICRC S520 governs mold remediation. Crews handling visible mold or post-water mold growth are S520-certified, which includes containment construction, HEPA filtration deployment, EPA-registered antimicrobial application, and verified clearance protocols.
S540 — Trauma & Crime Scene
Crews handling biohazard or trauma cleanup hold S540 certification on top of the baseline.
S700 — Fire & Smoke Restoration
Fire damage crews are certified to IICRC S700, covering soot characterization, structural cleaning, content cleaning, and HVAC remediation after a fire event.
Continuing Education
IICRC certifications require continuing education credits to maintain. We verify CEU compliance for every crew at dispatch onboarding and annually.
State Licensure
Many states require specific contractor licenses for mold or asbestos work. We dispatch only crews that hold the licenses required in their state.
Insurance & Bonding
All dispatched crews carry general liability and workers compensation insurance, and bonding where state law requires.
